STATEHOUSE (Feb. 15, 2010) - State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) hopes to put an exclamation point on Lafayette Central Catholic’s undefeated football season when he presents a resolution in honor of the team’s 2009 Class A state championship during Tuesday’s session of the Indiana Senate.
“This team showed outstanding effort, determination and athletic ability last year,” Alting said “I want to extend my congratulations to them by recognizing their achievements in front of the full Senate.”
Under the guidance of Coach Kevin O’Shea, Central Catholic finished their undefeated season with a 52-0 victory over Fountain Central to capture the state championship.
Senior quarterback Chris Mills threw for 230 yards and four touchdowns in the championship game, tying the current Class A championship record for touchdown passes.
Central Catholic outscored their opponents 733-42 during their 15-0 championship season.
Sen. Alting represents Senate District 22, which includes a portion of Tippecanoe County.
