(LAWRENCEBURG) – March. 23, 2010 Rep. Mike Pence (R-5th District) today announced his endorsement of Republican State Senator Johnny Nugent for reelection in District 43.
“Johnny is a true conservative patriot who shares our traditional Hoosier values,” Pence said. “The freedoms we cherish are under attack now more than ever. That’s why we need to keep proven leaders like Johnny Nugent fighting for us every day at the Indiana Statehouse. I am proud to be his partner in government service and I look forward to continuing our partnership in the future.”
Nugent said he is honored to have Pence’s endorsement.
“Mike Pence represents all Hoosiers with integrity, conviction and sound conservative principles,” Nugent said. “I am honored to have his support and proud to call him my friend.”
Nugent’s currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Small Business and is Ranking Majority Member of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Financial Institutions. He has a 99% voting record and a 99% attendance record as a State Senator.
During recent legislative sessions, Nugent sponsored several bills to protect our 2nd Amendment rights by simplifying handgun licensing procedures, creating lifetime handgun licenses and ensuring Hoosiers have the right to defend themselves and their property against criminals.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Nugent is a 33 Degree Mason Lodge #4 F&AM, a member of Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Southeastern Indiana Shrine Club, a life member of the National Rifle Association and serves on the NRA Board of Directors. He and his wife Nancy have one daughter and two grandchildren, Dylon and Kyle. They reside in Lawrenceburg with their adopted faithful dog, Skyler.
Senate District 43 covers Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley and Union Counties and a majority of Franklin and Jennings Counties.
