Sen. Dennis Kruse has served citizens of the Fort Wayne and northeastern Indiana area on both sides of the Indiana Statehouse. Before becoming the District 14 Senator, Kruse was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1989-2004.
During 2007 in the Indiana Senate, Kruse has served as chair of the Pension Management Oversight Commission. Kruse has also chaired a subcommittee on interstate cooperation. During the 2007 legislative session, Kruse co-authored Senate Enrolled Act 480 – regarded as the most comprehensive veteran benefits bills since the end of the Vietnam War.
Kruse has also been highly involved in legislative issues dealing with economic development, technology and civic affairs.
Outside of the Senate, Kruse has been an important contributor in both business and church organizations. He has served as chairman of the board for the Northeast Indiana Youth for Christ and Indiana Conservative Assembly.
Kruse has been an important force in helping youth realize the dangers of drinking and driving. He has chaired a legislative coalition to reduce underage drinking.
An auctioneer for many years, Kruse now owns and is president of the Reppert School of Auctioneering – a school he learned the trade from as a young person. He was president of the Indiana Auctioneers Association in 2005 and president of the National Auctioneers Association the same year.
Kruse and his wife, Kay, will have been married 40 years in 2008. They have four sons and three grandsons. | |
