Senator Phil Boots
District 23
Since joining the Indiana Senate in 2006, Phil Boots has quickly asserted himself on key Senate committees and co-authored many important pieces of legislation. The Vietnam veteran was a co-author of Senate Enrolled Act 480 – one of the most comprehensive veterans benefits bills in nearly a quarter century. He was a second author of Senate Enrolled Act 403, which enables Hoosiers to freeze their credit reports serves as a tool to prevent identity theft.
A former Wabash College student, Boots also helped strengthen education by co-authoring Senate Enrolled Act 88, which encouraged retired teachers to return to the classroom by removing the earnings limitation for a member of the teacher’s retirement fund. This legislation will help schools fill an increasing void caused by a teacher shortage around the state.
A small business owner, Boots is working hard to preserve and create new jobs with his input as a member of the Economic Development and Technology Committee. He also serves on the Economic Development Subcommittee.
